Trench-coats. Trench coats. Trenchcoats?

Wordcount = 81,286

Solid progress today going over those new chapters. Some days aren’t that newsworthy: the most interesting thing to happen today was a ten-minute search of various reference texts to answer the question: ‘trench-coats’ or ‘trench coats’? Although I found the answer, I think it’s safe for me to leave you hanging over this one. You’ll simply have to buy the book to find out.

Mercifully, there’s bigger news.

The Last Monk section of the site is now open, with a synopsis, information about the characters and the first extract from the book. I had promised to put up a bit of the chapter I’m currently working on, but that chapter is full of spoilers, so instead I’ve cut together a bit of fun from the broadcast of my reality TV show, the Rat Race.

I’m interested in what you think, especially about the synopsis. It’s quite short: I’ve never written a blurb for a novel before, so I read the back covers of a few paperbacks on my bookshelf, counted the words of the ones I liked and wrote what I’d like to see on my own back cover. Is it too mysterious? Not mysterious enough? Would you read (and by ‘read’, of course I mean ‘buy’) a book with this blurb on the back? Add a comment in the TLM section if you please.

Finally, I should mention that soon you’ll be able to sign up for a regular (possibly weekly) email from this website. Technical difficulties beyond our control should be fixed in the next day or so.

    I’ve read enough Dolly and Cosmopolitan magazines to know how to spell the item of clothing in question. However, my faith in these brilliant reads is so shaky I will not fully commit to it by writing it here. Needless to say your blurb piqued (peaked?!?!) my interest. But you can tell it to stop peeking at it now, my interest is very chaste and modest.

    The blurb is the best I have ever read! Would I buy the novel? Of course I would!
